Abstract
A medical device is configured to treat a body cavity. The medical device includes a tubular sheath portion, a foreign substance capturing catheter configured to be movable inside the sheath portion, the foreign substance capturing catheter having a capturing portion configured to capture a foreign substance inside the body cavity, a treatment catheter configured to be movable inside the foreign substance capturing catheter, the treatment catheter having a treatment portion configured to treat the body cavity. The medical device is configured to be inserted into the body cavity in a state in which the treatment catheter is set inside the foreign substance capturing catheter and the foreign substance capturing catheter is set inside the sheath portion.
Core Innovation
The invention relates to a nested medical device configured to treat a body cavity. The medical device includes a sheath portion having a tubular shape, a foreign substance capturing catheter movable inside the sheath portion, and a treatment catheter movable inside the foreign substance capturing catheter. The foreign substance capturing catheter comprises a capturing portion configured to capture a foreign substance inside the body cavity, and the treatment portion is configured to treat the body cavity.
The treatment catheter treatment portion comprises a plurality of metal wires and is configured to expand and contract. A distal end tip is disposed at a distal end portion of the treatment catheter and is configured to prevent blood from entering the sheath portion from the body cavity. The invention emphasizes a nested insertion state in which the treatment catheter is set inside the foreign substance capturing catheter and the foreign substance capturing catheter is set inside the sheath portion, and the treatment portion and the distal end tip are separated from each other by a distance along the treatment catheter.
To control leakage and displacement, the invention provides a first valve at a proximal end portion of the sheath portion configured to prevent the foreign substance capturing catheter from falling off and to prevent blood from leaking from the sheath portion. A second valve is provided at a proximal end portion of the foreign substance capturing catheter configured to prevent displacement of the treatment catheter and to prevent blood from leaking from the foreign substance capturing catheter. The disclosed embodiments further include structures in which a distal tip closes an opening of the sheath portion and unclosed by distal movement, and alternative sheath constructions including a break line to open a distal end.
Claims Coverage
The document includes one independent claim covering a nested, movable catheter system with an expandable and contractible treatment portion, a distal end tip for preventing blood entry into the sheath, and proximal valves for preventing catheter displacement and blood leakage. Overall, the independent claim involves 4 main inventive aspects.
Nested movable sheath and catheters for treating a body cavity
A medical device configured to be inserted into the body cavity in a state in which the treatment catheter is set inside the foreign substance capturing catheter and the foreign substance capturing catheter is set inside the sheath portion, with the foreign substance capturing catheter movable inside the sheath portion and the treatment catheter movable inside the foreign substance capturing catheter.
Expandable and contractible treatment portion using plurality of metal wires
A treatment catheter having a treatment portion comprising a plurality of metal wires and configured to expand and contract to treat the body cavity.
Distal end tip preventing blood entry into the sheath portion
A distal end tip disposed at a distal end portion of the treatment catheter and configured to prevent blood from entering the sheath portion from the body cavity, wherein the treatment portion and the distal end tip are separated from each other by a distance along the treatment catheter.
First and second proximal valves for preventing falling off, displacement, and blood leakage
A first valve at a proximal end portion of the sheath portion configured to prevent the foreign substance capturing catheter from falling off from the sheath portion and to prevent blood from leaking from the sheath portion; and a second valve at a proximal end portion of the foreign substance capturing catheter configured to prevent displacement of the treatment catheter and to prevent blood from leaking from the foreign substance capturing catheter.
The claim set covers a nested catheter treatment system in which catheters are positioned inside each other during insertion, the treatment portion expands and contracts via a plurality of metal wires, a distal end tip prevents blood from entering the sheath portion with a defined separation from the treatment portion, and proximal first and second valves prevent falling off, displacement, and blood leakage.
