Abstract

A nebuliser device with a vibrating mesh, for administering medicaments is provided. The nebuliser device includes a casing, a nozzle, a nebuliser and a chamber that houses a medicament. The chamber housing a medicament is a disposable capsule forming an independent body that can be extracted from the casing of the device. The disposable capsule attaches to the nebuliser and to the casing. An attachment between the nebuliser and the casing allows the disposable capsule to be coupled to the nebuliser device or to be uncoupled therefrom.

Core Innovation

The invention is a nebuliser device with a vibrating mesh for administering medicaments. The device includes a casing and a disposable capsule that forms a chamber housing a liquid medicament, and the disposable capsule includes a nebuliser and a nozzle and is extractable from the casing as a single independent body.

The disposable capsule is configured to attach to the casing and to be disposed of once a dose of the medicament contained inside the disposable capsule has been used. When attached, a portion of the disposable capsule is disposed inside the casing, and an attachment between the disposable capsule and the casing allows coupling and uncoupling. The casing comprises a switch or a button for selectively activating a piezoelectric device to vibrate the mesh and thereby generate an aerosol.

The aerosol is generated by the liquid medicament being pushed through micro-holes of the vibrating mesh directly into the nozzle for inhalation by a user. The nebuliser comprises a piezoelectric device and a vibrating mesh actuated by the piezoelectric device. The capsule further includes an outer seal and optionally one or more internal seals for protecting the medicament and separating medicament phases.

The disposable capsule is refined by configurations including an outer seal and internal seals that position different medicament phases on different sides of the seals, using a liquid medicament phase and/or a combination of liquid and solid medicament phases. Capsule geometry options include an upper vertical cone and a lower cylinder, or an L-shaped geometry forming a vertical cone at an upper part and an oblique or horizontal cylinder at a lower part.

Claims Coverage

Independent claim clm-00001 covers a nebuliser device integrating a removable disposable medicament chamber capsule with a vibrating mesh actuated by a piezoelectric device, including aerosol generation through micro-holes directly into a nozzle and button or switch activation in the casing. The dependent claims refine the disposable capsule with seals and specific capsule geometries for medicament phase separation and capsule structure.

Disposable capsule forming medicament chamber as a single independent body

A disposable capsule forms a chamber that houses a liquid medicament, is extractable from the casing as a single independent body, includes a nebuliser and a nozzle, and is configured to be disposed of once a dose has been used.

Coupling and uncoupling attachment with in-casing portion

The disposable capsule is configured to attach to the casing, with a portion of the disposable capsule disposed inside the casing when attached, and an attachment allowing coupling and uncoupling between the disposable capsule and the casing.

Piezoelectric-actuated vibrating mesh generating aerosol through micro-holes

The nebuliser comprises a piezoelectric device and a vibrating mesh actuated by the piezoelectric device, and the casing switch or button selectively activates the piezoelectric device to vibrate the mesh to generate aerosol by liquid medicament being pushed through micro-holes of the vibrating mesh directly into the nozzle for inhalation.

Outer seal protecting medicament inside disposable capsule

A disposable capsule includes an outer seal protecting the medicament contained inside the disposable capsule.

Internal seals separating medicament phases

The disposable capsule includes at least one internal seal to separate different phases of a medicament inside the capsule.

Liquid or liquid-plus-solid phases positioned on different sides of internal seal

The medicament is in at least two phases selected as a liquid phase or liquid plus solid phase, with each phase positioned on different sides of at least one internal seal.

Capsule geometry with upper vertical cone and lower cylinder

The disposable capsule has an upper part with a vertical cone geometry and a lower part with a cylindrical geometry.

Capsule geometry with L-shaped combination including vertical cone and oblique or horizontal cylinder

The disposable capsule has an L-shaped geometry forming a vertical cone at an upper part and an oblique or horizontal cylinder at a lower part.

Overall, the claim set covers a removable disposable capsule that forms the medicament chamber and integrates a nozzle with a vibrating-mesh nebuliser actuated by a piezoelectric device. It requires attachment and uncoupling with a portion of the capsule inside the casing, switch or button activation, and direct aerosol generation into the nozzle through micro-holes, with further refinements using outer and internal seals for phase protection and separation and specified capsule geometries.
