Abstract
An applicator device for applying an agent to a target site with a malleable tip that can be cut to length with a pair of nursing dressing scissors or similar type of scissors and a malleable tip with a formable tube that that can be cut to length with a pair of nursing dressing scissors or similar type of scissors. The malleable tip is configured for passage of fluid therethrough and includes a malleable member. The malleable member is made of a soft metal that is strong enough to retain the shape of the tip after is has been bend into configuration, but soft and weak enough to be easily cut with a pair of nursing dressing scissors or the like.
Core Innovation
The disclosure describes an applicator device for applying an agent to a target site, using a formable tip configured for the passage of fluid therethrough. The formable tip has a proximal end portion for communication with at least one fluid reservoir and a distal end portion, and is shaped into a desired configuration and cut to a desired length with a common pair of nursing dressing scissors.
The formable tip includes a formable or malleable tube with a lumen for transport of the agent and at least one lumen in which a malleable member is received. The tube is made from a suitable plastic or polymer material that is easy to deform and stretch while being stable enough to provide resistance to collapsing.
The malleable member is made of a soft metal that is strong enough to maintain the desired configuration after bending, but soft and weak enough to be cut with nursing dressing scissors. The malleable member is embedded within the tube and includes a surface with serrations configured to improve adhesion with the plastic or polymer material, and complementary engaging surfaces create strong bonding.
Claims Coverage
The document provides two independent claims. The inventive features center on a formable/cuttable tube tip with an embedded malleable member in a separate lumen, with the tube deformable yet resistant to collapsing and the malleable member maintaining configuration after bending while remaining cuttable with nursing dressing scissors.
Formable tip cut to desired length with nursing dressing scissors
The formable tip is configured to be shaped into a desired configuration and to be cut to a desired length with a common pair of nursing dressing scissors.
Formable tube with agent lumen and embedded malleable member lumen
The formable tip comprises a formable or malleable tube with a lumen for transport of the agent and at least one lumen in which a malleable member is received.
Deformable yet collapse-resistant plastic or polymer tube
The tube is made from a suitable plastic or polymer material which is easy to deform and stretch yet stable enough to provide the tube with resistance to collapsing.
Soft-metal malleable member that maintains bent configuration yet is scissors-cuttable
The malleable member is made of a soft metal that is strong enough to maintain the desired configuration after bending, but at the same time soft and weak enough to be cut with nursing dressing scissors.
Embedded serrated malleable member creating strong bonding via complementary surfaces
The malleable member is provided with a surface with serrations configured to improve adhesion with the plastic or polymer material, and complementary engaging surfaces create strong bonding.
The independent claims cover a formable, cut-to-length applicator tip where a deformable yet collapse-resistant plastic/polymer tube transports an agent and houses an embedded malleable member in a separate lumen. The malleable member maintains the desired bent configuration while remaining weak enough to be cut with nursing dressing scissors, and serrated, complementary engaging surfaces are used to create strong bonding between the tube and the malleable member.
Stated Advantages
Provides the tube with resistance to collapsing while remaining easy to deform and stretch.
Maintains the desired configuration after bending.
Can be cut to a desired length with a common pair of nursing dressing scissors.
Improves adhesion between the malleable member and the plastic or polymer tube, creating strong bonding.
Documented Applications
Applying an agent to a target site using an applicator device and a formable tip for the passage of fluid therethrough.
