Abstract

An apparatus includes a label configured to be coupled to a medicament delivery device. The label includes a first surface and a second surface. The first surface is configured to be coupled to an outer surface of the medicament delivery device. The second surface includes a textual indicia. The label further includes an electronic circuit system configured to output an electronic signal.

Core Innovation

The disclosed medicament delivery device includes a housing and a medicament container disposed within the housing. The medicament container is configured to be coupled to a needle for insertion into skin and to be moved from a first container position to a second container position to convey a medicament when an energy storage member is actuated.

The apparatus further includes an electronic circuit system configured to produce an audible output in response to a switch being actuated, and, in some configurations, the electronic circuit system produces an electronic output. The disclosure coordinates actuation by an actuator assembly having a first actuation member with a lock portion that retains the first actuation member in a first position and releases to move to a second position, and a second actuation member that moves relative to the housing to release the lock portion and cause actuation of the switch.

The medicament container moves along a longitudinal axis between the first and second container positions, while the first actuation member moves from the first position to the second position in a direction parallel to the longitudinal axis. In certain implementations, the apparatus includes a retraction mechanism configured to move the medicament container back towards the first position to retract the needle after delivery of the medicament, and the electronic output can include recorded speech, light output, and haptic output.

Claims Coverage

The partial content provides two independent apparatus claims. Both independent claims share the same overall architecture: a housing with a medicament container and needle, an energy storage member for moving the container to convey medicament, and coordinated actuation of an electronic circuit system via an actuator assembly that releases a lock and actuates a switch.

Medicament conveying energy storage with audible electronic signaling on switch actuation

An apparatus comprising a housing with a medicament container disposed within the housing, configured to be coupled to a needle for insertion into skin; an energy storage member configured to produce a force to move the medicament container from a first container position to a second container position and to convey a medicament when actuated; an electronic circuit system including a switch and an audible output device configured to produce an audible output in response to the switch being actuated; and an actuator assembly having a first actuation member with a lock portion that retains the first actuation member in a first position and releases to move to a second position to actuate the energy storage member, and a second actuation member configured to move relative to the housing to release the lock portion and cause actuation of the switch, wherein the medicament container moves along a longitudinal axis and the first actuation member moves parallel to the longitudinal axis.

Retracting medicament delivery apparatus with electronic output in response to switch actuation

An apparatus comprising a housing; a medicament container disposed within the housing containing a medicament; a needle coupled to the medicament container configured to be inserted into skin for delivery; an energy storage member configured to produce a force to move the medicament container from a first container position to a second container position and to convey a medicament when actuated; a retraction mechanism configured to move the medicament container back towards the first position to retract the needle after delivery; an electronic circuit system including a switch configured to produce an electronic output in response to the switch being actuated; and an actuator assembly including a first actuation member and a second actuation member with a lock portion retaining the first actuation member in a first position and releasing to move to a second position to actuate the energy storage member, and the second actuation member configured to move relative to the housing to release the lock portion and cause actuation of the switch, wherein the medicament container moves from the first container position to the second container position along a longitudinal axis and the first actuation member moves from the first position to the second position in a direction parallel to the longitudinal axis.

The claim coverage centers on medicament-conveying movement along a longitudinal axis, energy storage actuation coordinated by a lock-and-actuation actuator assembly that causes switch actuation, and an electronic circuit system producing an audible output or electronic output responsive to the switch. The second independent claim additionally requires a retraction mechanism configured to move the medicament container back towards the first position to retract the needle after delivery.
