Abstract

The disclosure provides methods for reducing fungal infestation to a crop or plant by applying a composition including propamocarb and Bacillus firmus to a crop or plant. Methods of reducing yellow spot infestation to a plant or crop are also described herein. The disclosure also provides for compositions and methods of improving turfgrass and/or ornamental grass quality.

Core Innovation

The disclosure relates to combining propamocarb, including propamocarb-HCl, with Bacillus firmus to synergistically reduce or control yellow spot infestation. Yellow spot is described as bacterial and not controlled by either component alone, while the combination provides improved outcomes versus using propamocarb or Bacillus firmus separately.

The disclosure describes compositions that include propamocarb and Bacillus firmus in amounts that synergistically reduce or control yellow spot in plants. It further describes treatment contexts including treating soil, a seed, a plant, and/or a plant part, with mention of foliar, drench, and in-furrow application contexts. Bacillus firmus is also referenced as a known nematicidal agent.

The disclosure provides example application rate ranges for propamocarb-HCl and Bacillus firmus and reports synergy through trial observations and referenced figures. It also discusses improvements in turfgrass/ornamental grass quality and yellow spot incidence when using the combined approach, and references alternative propamocarb derivatives and salts in the context of the overall propamocarb component.

Claims Coverage

The independent claims are directed to a combined propamocarb and Bacillus firmus composition, where the two components are present in synergistically effective amounts to reduce or control yellow spot when treating soil, seeds, plants, and/or plant parts. Two independent claims are identified, and the main inventive features are the paired active ingredient combination, the synergy requirement, and the specified treatment context and yellow spot outcome.

Synergistic propamocarb and Bacillus firmus for yellow spot control

A composition comprising propamocarb and Bacillus firmus, wherein the propamocarb and Bacillus firmus are present in amounts that synergistically reduce or control yellow spot in a plant when treating soil, a seed, a plant, and/or a plant part with a composition comprising propamocarb and Bacillus firmus.

Consisting essentially of synergistic propamocarb and Bacillus firmus for yellow spot control

A composition consisting essentially of propamocarb and Bacillus firmus, wherein the propamocarb and Bacillus firmus are present in amounts that synergistically reduce or control yellow spot in a plant when treating soil, a seed, a plant, and/or a plant part with a composition comprising propamocarb and Bacillus firmus.

Across the independent claims, the inventive core is the use of a composition containing propamocarb and Bacillus firmus in synergistically effective amounts to reduce or control yellow spot in plants when treating soil, seeds, plants, and/or plant parts. One independent claim allows the combination as a general composition, and the other limits the composition to consisting essentially of the two components.

Stated Advantages

Synergistically reduces or controls yellow spot when compared to either component alone.

Improves turfgrass/ornamental grass quality while reducing yellow spot incidence, as reported in trial observations described in the disclosure.

Documented Applications

Treating soil, a seed, a plant, and/or a plant part for reducing or controlling yellow spot in plants, including foliar treatment, drench, and in-furrow application contexts as described in the disclosure.

Turfgrass leaves treatment, including applying the composition as a treatment to one or more turfgrass leaves, as further narrowed by dependent claim language.
