Abstract
The present disclosure describes various aspects of remote presence interfaces (RPIs) for use on portable electronic devices (PEDs) to interface with remote presence devices. An RPI may allow a user to interact with a telepresence device, view a live video feed, provide navigational instructions, and/or otherwise interact with the telepresence device. The RPI may allow a user to manually, semi-autonomously, or autonomously control the movement of the telepresence device. One or more panels associated with a video feed, patient data, calendars, date, time, telemetry data, PED data, telepresence device data, healthcare facility information, healthcare practitioner information, menu tabs, settings controls, and/or other features may be utilized via the RPI.
Core Innovation
The invention relates to remote presence interfaces that run on portable electronic devices and interact with telepresence devices and robots used in healthcare. It provides for retrieving a list of patients and selectively displaying the list, receiving a selection of a patient, and retrieving an endpoint list that includes remote presence devices and one or more medical professionals associated with particular patients or scheduled to be associated with particular patients for a period of time to which the respective remote presence devices can navigate. It then displays the endpoint list, receives a filtering parameter including a name of a medical professional, and filters the endpoint list to display only endpoints associated with the name in the filtering parameter.
After the endpoint list is filtered, the system receives a selection of a remote presence device from the filtered endpoint list and communicatively connects the electronic device to the selected remote presence device. It displays a live video feed from a camera of the selected remote presence device in a video panel on an electronic display of the electronic device, and updates the live video feed as the selected remote presence device moves to the selected patient. The described embodiments organize healthcare telepresence content into panels that include video, patient data, telemetry, calendars, and settings, while supporting secure login and HIPAA-compliant access.
The described system also supports telepresence-session user interaction and data handling to manage the remote presence experience. It includes multi-user consults, avatars and pointers, notifications and session stateful reconnection, and media management for capture, edit, and store. Patient data integration includes patient biometrics, waveforms, and HL7 data including ADT, and it supports receiving and displaying navigation information such as maps, destination selection, and navigation destination-driven transmission of navigation instructions to the remote presence device.
Claims Coverage
The partial content provides one independent claim. Across this independent claim, the core claim includes 6 main inventive operations: patient list retrieval and selective display; patient selection; endpoint list retrieval and display tied to patients and medical professionals; endpoint filtering by medical professional name; connection to a selected remote presence device; and live camera video feed display with updates as the remote presence device moves to the selected patient.
Patient list retrieval, selective display, and patient selection
Retrieving a list of patients; selectively displaying the list of patients; receiving a selection of a patient from the patient list.
Endpoint list retrieval tied to patient associations and medical professionals
Retrieving an endpoint list including a plurality of remote presence devices and one or more medical professionals currently associated with particular patients or scheduled to be associated with particular patients for a period of time to which the respective remote presence devices can navigate; displaying the endpoint list.
Filtering endpoints by medical professional name
Receiving a filtering parameter including a name of a medical professional; filtering the endpoint list to display only endpoints associated with the name of the medical professional in the filtering parameter; receiving a selection of a remote presence device from the filtered endpoint list.
Communicative connection to the selected remote presence device
Communicatively connecting an electronic device to the selected remote presence device.
Live video feed in a video panel with movement updates
Displaying a live video feed from a camera of the selected remote presence device in a video panel on an electronic display of the electronic device; updating the live video feed as the selected remote presence device moves to the selected patient.
Overall, the claim covers a patient-driven remote presence workflow in which a portable electronic device retrieves and filters an endpoint list by medical professional name, connects to a selected remote presence device, and displays a live video feed that is updated as the remote presence device moves to the selected patient.
