Abstract
Adjuvants for agrochemical active formulation and methods of providing adjuvancy in agrochemical formulations are disclosed. An agrochemical formulation may comprise a first adjuvant comprising a fatty ester of a C3 to C8 polyol, or an oligomer thereof having from 2 to 5 repeat units, a co-adjuvant comprising an alkoxylated fatty alcohol having a C4 to C30 fatty chain and from 1 to 30 oxyalkylene groups, and at least one agrochemical active. Use of a combination of a first adjuvant comprising a fatty ester of a C3 to C8 polyol, or an oligomer thereof having from 2 to 5 repeat units, and a co-adjuvant comprising an alkoxylated fatty alcohol having a C4 to C30 fatty chain and from 1 to 30 oxyalkylene groups and a method for treating vegetation to control pests is also disclosed.
Core Innovation
The invention relates to an adjuvancy combination for agrochemical formulations, comprising a first adjuvant and a co-adjuvant together with at least one agrochemical active. The first adjuvant is a fatty ester of an oligomer of glycerol having from 2 to 3 repeat units, and the co-adjuvant is an alkoxylated alcohol represented by R3—O-(AO)x—H, where R3 is selected from capric alcohol, lauryl alcohol, or myristyl alcohol.
Each AO is independently an oxyethylene (EO) group or an oxypropylene (PO) group, with x in the range from 4 to 7. The agrochemical formulation is characterized by a contact angle of less than 40°, a surface tension of less than 32 mN/m, and a viscosity range of 30 to 60 mPa·s.
The first adjuvant and the co-adjuvant act in concert to provide spreading and wetting behavior while maintaining the formulation viscosity within the stated range. The invention is applied to pest control using the described agrochemical formulation, including treating vegetation directly or by applying to its immediate environment.
Claims Coverage
The independent claim defines an agrochemical formulation with three required components and three physicochemical thresholds, resulting from coordinated inventive features in the structure of the first adjuvant and co-adjuvant and in the resulting formulation properties.
Fatty ester of a glycerol oligomer as first adjuvant
A first adjuvant that is a fatty ester of an oligomer of glycerol having from 2 to 3 repeat units.
Alkoxylated alcohol as co-adjuvant with EO/PO oxyalkylene blocks
A co-adjuvant represented by R3—O-(AO)x—H, where R3 is selected from capric alcohol, lauryl alcohol, or myristyl alcohol, each AO is independently an oxyethylene (EO) group or an oxypropylene (PO) group, and x is in the range from 4 to 7.
Agrochemical formulation with specified contact angle, surface tension, and viscosity
At least one agrochemical active, wherein the contact angle is less than 40°, the surface tension is less than 32 mN/m, and the viscosity range is 30 to 60 mPa·s.
Overall, the claim coverage centers on an agrochemical formulation defined by a specific fatty-ester glycerol-oligomer first adjuvant and a specific EO/PO alkoxylated alcohol co-adjuvant, together with at least one agrochemical active, and further constrained by formulation performance thresholds for contact angle, surface tension, and viscosity.
