Abstract

A stent with an improved anti-slip function. The stent includes: a cylindrical stent including a plurality of openings formed by weaving wires, and a plurality of peaks, the cylindrical stent being subjected to heat treatment, wherein the cylindrical stent has a PTFE-first artificial blood vessel layer being in entire contact with an inner surface thereof, and a plurality of PTFE-second artificial blood vessel layers being in partial contact with an outer surface thereof, and the first and second artificial blood vessel layers are heat-fused together to encompass the cylindrical stent, thereby forming a plurality of first sections having a plurality of openings obstructed and a plurality of seconds sections having the plurality of openings remaining unobstructed, wherein the first sections are inserted into a lesion while pressing against the lesion, thereby being caught in the lesion, and the second sections are caught in the lesion meshed with the openings.

Core Innovation

A stent with an improved anti-slip function is configured to widen a lesion such as stenosis or occlusion in a lumen of a body. The stent includes a cylindrical stent formed as a hollow cylindrical mesh in an interlocking or intersecting manner, and the mesh is woven from wires made of a super-elastic shape memory alloy to form a plurality of rhombic openings. The cylindrical stent has a plurality of peaks circumferentially provided at opposite corrugated ends.

The cylindrical stent is subjected to heat treatment and includes a first artificial blood vessel layer made of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) material in entire contact with an inner surface of the cylindrical stent. The stent further includes a plurality of second artificial blood vessel layers made of PTFE material that contact an outer surface of the cylindrical stent at predetermined intervals. The first artificial blood vessel layer and the plurality of second artificial blood vessel layers are fused together by heat fusion to encompass the cylindrical stent.

The heat fusion forms a plurality of first sections having obstructed openings and a plurality of second sections having unobstructed openings. The partitioning is defined by whether openings are encompassed in regions with fused layers, so that openings in the first sections are obstructed while openings in the second sections are unobstructed. This configuration supports the stent anti-slip function while enabling openings of the second sections to remain unobstructed.

Claims Coverage

The disclosed claims focus on a stent with an improved anti-slip function and define, in particular, how PTFE artificial blood vessel layers are fused to create obstructed and unobstructed openings in different sections of the cylindrical mesh. One independent claim is present, with dependent claims refining section-opening fixation behavior and length relationships for first sections and second sections.

Cylindrical mesh with rhombic openings and circumferential peaks

A cylindrical stent including a plurality of rhombic openings formed by weaving wires made of a super-elastic shape memory alloy in a hollow cylindrical mesh shape in an interlocking or intersecting manner, and a plurality of peaks circumferentially provided at opposite corrugated ends of the cylindrical stent.

PTFE first and second artificial blood vessel layers fused by heat fusion

A first artificial blood vessel layer made of PTFE material in entire contact with an inner surface of the cylindrical stent, and a plurality of second artificial blood vessel layers made of PTFE material in contact with an outer surface at predetermined intervals, wherein the first and second artificial blood vessel layers are fused together by heat fusion to encompass the cylindrical stent.

Obstructed and unobstructed openings formed by fused sections

The fused structure forms a plurality of first sections having obstructed openings and a plurality of second sections having unobstructed openings.

Openings deformation distinction under external force between first and second sections

Even under external force, openings of the first sections are prevented from deforming because they are fixed to the fused first and second artificial blood vessel layers, while openings of the second sections are deformable because they are not fixed to the first artificial blood vessel layer due to the absence of fused second layers.

Length equality patterns for first sections and second sections

The stent includes length relationships in which the first sections and second sections have defined same or different lengths: first sections have the same length and second sections have the same length; or first sections have the same length and second sections have different lengths; or the second sections have the same length while the first sections have different lengths.

Claim coverage centers on a cylindrical stent mesh of woven super-elastic shape memory alloy wires with rhombic openings and circumferential peaks, combined with PTFE first and second artificial blood vessel layers fused by heat fusion. The fusion defines first sections with obstructed openings and second sections with unobstructed openings, further refined by dependent claim limitations distinguishing deformability of openings under external force and specifying permitted length relationships between first and second sections.
