Abstract
A pre-filled injection device includes a tubular containment body extending between a first and second openings, inside which are hermetically separated first and second containment chambers. A first substance is contained in the first containment chamber. First and second plugs inside the tubular body define the second containment chamber, and slide inside the tubular body. A second liquid substance inside the second containment chamber is intended to be mixed inside the tubular body with the first substance for reconstituting an injectable solution. A dosing reservoir has an inlet and an outlet, the inlet being in communication with the first containment chamber so that the first containment chamber extends between the first plug and the dosing reservoir inlet. The dosing reservoir contains a fraction of the injectable solution. The first plug includes a projecting appendix passing through and entering the dosing reservoir to eject the fraction of solution.
Core Innovation
The invention relates to a pre-filled injection device having a tubular containment body that extends between a first opening and a second opening. Inside the tubular body, a first containment chamber and a second containment chamber are defined and hermetically separated from one another, and a first solid or liquid substance and a second liquid substance are contained for mixing inside the tubular body to reconstitute an injectable solution.
The device includes a dosing reservoir separated from the first containment chamber and having an inlet opening and an outlet opening. The inlet opening is in communication with the first containment chamber so that the dosing reservoir contains a fraction of the reconstituted injectable solution and isolates that fraction from a second solution fraction of injectable solution contained in the first containment chamber.
A first plug comprises a projecting appendix adapted to pass through the inlet opening of the dosing reservoir and to enter the dosing reservoir to eject the isolated fraction of solution from the dosing reservoir. A vent path is adapted to be passed through by the second solution fraction for ejection while the projecting appendix passes through the inlet opening and ejects the isolated fraction through the outlet opening.
In further configurations, at least one storing reservoir transitions from a closed configuration to an open configuration following a pressure force exerted by the first plug onto the second solution fraction so the storing reservoir can be filled by the second solution fraction. The storing reservoir is initially occluded by a tearable membrane or film, and in one refinement it includes a first reservoir portion defined in a closure device and a second reservoir portion defined in the first plug.
Claims Coverage
The document includes three independent claims. Across these independent claims, the coverage focuses on a pre-filled injection device with hermetically separated containment chambers, a dosing reservoir that isolates a fraction of reconstituted injectable solution, and a projecting appendix that ejects the isolated fraction, with further limitations covering vent path handling and specific geometric and reservoir-opening features.
Hermetically separated tubular reconstitution with isolated dosing reservoir fraction and vent path
A tubular containment body extending between a first opening and a second opening defines a first containment chamber and a second containment chamber hermetically separated from one another, containing a first solid or liquid substance and a second liquid substance for reconstitution of an injectable solution; a dosing reservoir separated from the first containment chamber has an inlet opening in communication with the first containment chamber so that the dosing reservoir contains a fraction of the injectable solution and isolates that fraction from a second solution fraction; a first plug comprises a projecting appendix that passes through the inlet opening and enters the dosing reservoir to eject the isolated fraction; and a vent path is adapted to be passed through by the second solution fraction for ejection while the projecting appendix passes through the inlet opening and ejects the isolated fraction through the outlet opening.
Projecting appendix geometry limiting maximum width relative to remaining plug width
A pre-filled injection device with hermetically separated first and second containment chambers in a tubular containment body, including a dosing reservoir separated from the first containment chamber that isolates a fraction of the reconstituted injectable solution from a second solution fraction; a first plug with a projecting appendix passes through the dosing reservoir inlet and enters the dosing reservoir to eject the isolated fraction; wherein the projecting appendix has a first maximum width and a remaining portion of the first plug has a second maximum width, with the first maximum width less than the second maximum width.
Tearable membrane occluded storing reservoir opened by pressure force to allow appendix entry
A pre-filled injection device with hermetically separated first and second containment chambers in a tubular containment body, including a dosing reservoir separated from the first containment chamber that isolates a fraction of the reconstituted injectable solution from a second solution fraction; a first plug with a projecting appendix passes through the dosing reservoir inlet and enters the dosing reservoir to eject the isolated fraction; and at least one storing reservoir that passes from a closed configuration to an open configuration following a pressure force exerted by the first plug onto the second solution fraction so it can be filled by the second solution fraction and allow the projecting appendix to pass through the inlet opening; wherein the storing reservoir is initially occluded by a tearable membrane or film.
Across the independent claims, the core inventive structure is the combination of hermetically separated containment chambers for reconstitution, a dosing reservoir configured to isolate a fraction of the injectable solution, and a projecting appendix that ejects the isolated fraction. The claim set further limits how the non-dose fraction is handled via a vent path, constrains projecting appendix geometry by maximum width relations, and alternatively introduces pressure-actuated storing reservoirs initially occluded by tearable membrane or film.
Stated Advantages
Isolates a fraction of the reconstituted injectable solution from a second solution fraction contained in the first containment chamber.
Allows ejection of the isolated fraction through the dosing reservoir outlet while permitting ejection of the second solution fraction via a vent path.
Provides a storing reservoir that can be filled by the second solution fraction under pressure force and initially cannot receive reconstituted solution due to occlusion by a tearable membrane or film.
