Los doctores Gattinoni y Kolobow fueron los pioneros en describir la necesidad de disociar el soporte de oxigenación de un soporte extracorpóreo exclusivamente de ventilación.
El soporte multiorgánico hoy en día ha sido la oportunidad del sector médico para brindar nuevas alternativas a sus pacientes. Según el tercer documento internacional del consenso para la definición de shock séptico, en el cual se define la sepsis como: “disfunción de órganos que pone en peligro la vida causada por una respuesta exagerada del huésped a la infección”.
Las causas que pueden generar sobrecarga hídrica son variadas, en algunos casos por patologías subyacentes como la Insuficiencia Cardiaca, Síndrome Nefrótico, entre otras, asimismo en casos en que el paciente hospitalizado en especial aquellos con algún cuadro agudo o crítico requieren de reanimación hídrica, con el fin de lograr estabilización y mejoría clínica.
