Products

Freeze-dried platelet-derived hemostatic agent (canine formulation)

A trehalose-stabilized, freeze-dried platelet-derived preparation supplied as a dry powder for reconstitution and IV infusion at point of care to treat thrombocytopenia- or trauma-related hemorrhage in dogs.

Lyophilized plasma formulation for veterinary trauma resuscitation

A dried plasma product intended for reconstitution and use in trauma resuscitation to support hemodynamic stabilization in veterinary patients.

Freeze-dried platelet preparations for zoo and wildlife applications (developmental)

Development-stage freeze-dried platelet products proposed for use in exotic and wildlife species (e.g., elephants) to address acute thrombocytopenia and hemorrhage in zoo medicine and conservation contexts.

Services

Design and conduct of multicenter randomized safety and efficacy trials of veterinary blood-derived therapeutics at critical care hospitals.

Management and execution of government-sponsored and partner-funded studies evaluating lyophilized blood products in trauma and conservation contexts.

News & Updates

Study will evaluate administration and effects of freeze-dried platelets and plasma.

The in-human care population of elephants is plagued by an endotheliotropic herpes virus that attacks young elephants and causes an acute loss of platelets with associated bleeding. BodeVet, Inc. working with the Smithsonian Institute has begun the process of producing lyophilized platelets for zoos to have available when bleeding occurs.

Wounds treated with multiple doses of VEGF and a single dose of freeze-dried platelets reached 90% closure faster than wounds left untreated. A single administration of trehalose lyophilized and reconstituted platelets showed promising results.

Study to determine whether platelet growth factors are preserved in supernatants from rehydrated trehalose-stabilized, freeze-dried equine platelets and whether these factors stimulate fibroblast proliferation, migration, and contraction.
