Pre-Clinical Evaluation of Analgesics

Dr. Carmen Hinojosa-Laborde, Department Chief of the Pain and Sensory Trauma Department at the U.S. Army Institute of Surgical Research, will walk through what her team can bring to a member's analgesic development program. That includes military-relevant small animal models of trauma — burn, laceration, crush injury, and polytrauma — along with multiple pain-behavior modalities such as von Frey allodynia and Hargreaves hyperalgesia, side-effect testing, and cardiovascular and respiratory assessment under trauma conditions. For members working the Pain Treatment focus areas (FA 11–14) on the Multitopic RPP, this is a direct look at a government teaming partner whose capabilities line up with the efficacy and safety evidence those requirements call for.
